This is a lovely all female soul group. En Vogue has won the most awards ever won by a female group in the history of music. (and awards, I suppose.) Their music is soul, R&B and funk but you will find pop as well as jazz as well as hip hop influences. This is great music. Evidently the voices are without a shadow of a doubt outstanding and I'm not just talking the harmonies and the backing vocals here. All the lead vocals have something that gives you I don't know, the musical version of goosebumps I guess. You can listen to a great collection of tunes here, enjoy En Vogue...

I had never heard of this artist, well... a sort of. It turned out that this person created the music for the movie Curious George of which I had the pleasant experience of sitting through this several times with my children Axl, Storm and Izzy. (I didn't pay no attention to the music however but I did like the first track) Anyhow, a few days ago, I arrived at friends and I'm listening to this. And I listen on and on and I started to like this. And all the time I was wondering who this could be. And than on the live album (Jack Johnson and Friends – Best of Kokua Festival) I hear Eddie Vedder. And I'm like, you got to be kidding me... How come, what, why and etc. So I checked it out and discovered the wonderful relaxing marvels of Jack Johnson. If you like an acoustic guitar and a voice to dream about, this is your thing. After the Beatles and after the two solo albums of Paul McCartney, Wings was born. A band that consisted of the core members Linda and Paul McCartney and Denny Laine. This band became hugely successful and scored a large amount of commercially successful songs. It proved certainly that Paul McCartney was able to write hit after hit after hit. The music was basically pop music with influences from rock, disco and ballads. They made seven albums and four of those reached the number one spot. All of the albums entered the top ten. This is post rock music. Explosions In The Sky are a band that play mostly instrumental songs and don't shy away from the use of three guitars in their songs. Their music is attention grabbing and has the ability to take you right into your emotional area. Very well done. The songs are longer than your average track and have often a sort of mini story to tell. Musical wise that is. Great layer work during the mixing process and the result of this band creating songs, structures and melodies is incredibly powerful. A great discovery for me. Thank you again Gabriel. This is something purely and simply for the aficionado's. This is the first solo album from Ron Wood. This is made in between the Faces and just before he was going to join the Rolling Stones. Keith Richard had already played on this solo album. The name of this album is I've Got My Own Album To Do. On this album he had the help of Mick and Keith, George Harrison, Mick Taylor, David Bowie and Rod Stewart. It is a nice enough album but it's creativity is limited. There are no outstanding songs and it all feels a bit like: I've done that because I had nothing else to do. So as I say, this is an album just put up for the fans of The Faces, The Stones and of course Mr Ronnie Wood himself. Enjoy...

Cheap Trick is an old school hard rock band that started in 1973 and is still going strong. They had their biggest hit with I Want You To Want Me. The band, in their humble beginnings turned out to be way more popular in Japan, than in their native America or anywhere else for that matter. As a result their live album At Budokan with the live single I Want You To Want Me became a massive success. And this time in the States as well in Europe. Over the years the success of Cheap Trick has never equaled their debuts but their music has stayed popular and they still play for sold out arena's. Enjoy...

To my surprise I found that I haven't put up any a Capella music. Now I know that there are a lot of a Capella versions of songs and that a lot of groups have brought out an a Capella song but I didn't want that exactly. I had heard of this group of vocalists called the House Jacks. They have created a few albums and have performed with a lot of different artists. What I like about their singing is the fact that they perform all kinds of music. Let's admit it, you do not hear very often an a Capella version of Kashmir from Led Zeppelin. I had heard of the name Gershwin. If you like music and you are interested in music sooner or later you will hear the name. I only recently found out, who George Gershwin actually was. A piano player who died at the age of 38. He lived from 1898 until 1937. The fact that even today, his name is still known must mean that his music has something remarkable. And for me after listening to his works it became clear that yes. This man was an incredible talent. What I like now, when I listen to his piano work is the fact that I recognise his way of piano playing as the music you would hear when you (and I was a young lad then) were watching these old black and white movies with Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin. You know, no talking but a piano that creates the ambiance of the movie. Gershwin's music of course goes way beyond that. I have been able to find a few songs of him, enjoy...

Cat Stevens is an English folk musician. Influences are pop, rock and sometimes electronic music. Cat Stevens has written and performed some absolute classics in the genre. Not only were his songs successful for himself but the were also hits for other artists. He stopped the music all together in 1980 and only put out a new album fifteen years later under his new name Yusuf. His songs have melodic lines that accompany his vocal work very well. The over all structures of the songs and the mixing of the sounds is simple. The result however is a momentum in time that shows that once a musician and his guitar could capture an audience.
