They play alternative rock. And other forms of rock like space-, hard-, progressive-, rock opera and electronic music. On top of that, there are parts, in the songs, where the use of big orchestrations shows a certain knowledge and proves an influence through classical music that makes the collection of sounds even richer and at the same time, forces you to be open minded for all sorts of musical adventures that will come. The vocals enhance the melody of the song, permanently and are rich in sound and volume. In order to appreciate Muse you would have to be alone or with a few people who are able to be quiet. Muse does not play quickly sequenced, statistically norm filling, make a quick buck, show some muscle or thigh, kind of music. Not only is their music of a level that leaves every aspiring instrumentalist in awe and wonder but they have managed to record and mix their songs that show, how they take influences and weave them in their own musical picture. The albums of Muse show that the bar of success in making popular music is set at a level where that bar appears as a transparent fish line, way out of reach of music enterprises of the likes of certain "talent" show organisations. Muse is a band apart and proves that the Art of music is still an Art... Enjoy.

A new and young band making it big. The Band Perry is a trio, two brothers and their sister. The music they make is country and they master this very, very well. This is their debut album and it is absolutely spot on. Great melodies, great lyrics. Wonderful musical setting and the harmonies just do it for me. The instruments you will find on this album are: mandolin, guitar, violin, drums, bass and my all time favorite if used right, piano. The influences you will pick out on this album are: rock, pop and bluegrass and the mixture plus the poppy backing vocals at times make this a great album to listen to. Enjoy...

This collection of songs is exactly as the title says.  The order of the songs is chronological, starting from 1950 and going to 1959, almost month by month. All the songs have been at the Billboard number one spot.  (Over all ambiance: Very calm).

This is about an album that Mr Roger Glover has created in 1974: The butterfly ball and the grasshopper's feast. This album was made after a poem written by William Roscoe (1753 - 1831), I've published the poem here so you can get a better idea of where Mr R. Glover is coming from. (Oh and before I forget: for those who do not know: Mr Roger Glover used to play bass with the rock band Deep Purple).
This album is basically a child story and the person who was to work (musically) with this was the late John Lord, the keyboard player from Deep Purple. John Lord was too busy with Deep Purple at the time so Roger Glover went to work on it himself.  The voice on the famous Love is all track (see the video clip) is from the late Ronnie James Dio.  Enjoy this music because it stays magic, even today. Have a good time...

When I heard the Jam for the first time, I automatically became a fan of Paul Weller. This man has it all. Plays guitar, has a distinctive voice and knows how to use it, writes great lyrics and has style. The music that Mr Weller has made first with the Jam, then the Style Council and after that as a solo artist is, naturally, music to my ears. The man is a walking avalanche of creativity. The evolution is very nice to follow as well. With the Jam, rock, rebellion and aggression are clearly present while with the Style Council, more melodic sounds come forward but he does not shy away from strong rhythm sections in the songs. His solo work has become very diverse, touching a lot of styles but you will be able to recognise Paul Weller still remarkably easy. Enjoy this collection of the Jam, Style Council and Paul Weller as a solo artist.

Now here we are talking about a musician in the true sense of the word. Andreas Vollenweider is a harp player. Not just any harp however, Andreas Vollenweider plays  an electrically modified harp of his own design. (From Wikipedia) I think that is unique and this is a fact that deserves respect. The music from Mr Vollenweider is gentle, dare I say, dreamy at times and I consider his work as extremely original, rare and unique. Here is a collection of his work, enjoy...

Compilation no 5  This collection of songs stretches a bit further than the previous ones. It has some great old fashioned disco tracks and also some brilliant sixties work but modern rock is presented as well as some sounds of the nineties and yes, yes, even later. There are also songs that deserve greater exposure so here you go. Have a good eclectic time. (Over all ambiance: Energetic-ish)

At the time this was unheard of and even stranger to look at. The band Madness changed the music scene. The way they dressed, how they danced and of course their music was unique at the time. Their music: ska, brought pleasure and happiness. The faster songs of Madness, made you dance in this special ska-dance kind of way. After their first two albums they did change a bit however and became a bit more mainstream and even if that may have disappointed some, they still created some very nice tunes to listen to. Here's a compilation of their work, enjoy...

These remarkable musicians make rock/pop/punk music. Their songs are rich in sound and rhythm and every once and a while the vocals surprise me. They make it all sound so simple and yet, this is nicely structured and well put together. The guitar solo's just do it for me. Nothing too complicated and to be fair, their work isn't complicated. It's just lovely to listen to this and yes, this is also great car music. Enjoy a compilation of their work.

The Scissor Sisters have made an absolutely stunning debut album; Scissor Sisters. This album is sheer pleasure to listen at because the music is poppy, disco-ish with rock influences and it has this positive, optimistic vibe. (There's also nu-disco in it but I had to look up what that was, first). This album swings. Which in a sort of way, is quite a happy coincidence, what with the tastes of the band members. This is a typical album to put on when you are getting ready to go out on a Friday or Saturday evening. Great vocals that are encouraging you to sing along, great rhythm section and I have to admit, that guitar work is from time to time outstanding. Well done, enjoy this...
