Music with quality

He's been on my put-it-on MWQ-list for a long time. So here he is. Brian Setzer, the man who has used multiple styles of music and mixed it with his own brand of rockabilly. Brian Setzer was a founder of the Stray Cats, played in (of course) the Brian Setzer Orchestra and has done various solo projects. A wonderful representative of the rockabilly music genre but what I think is so lovely with his music is all the influences that he puts into it. You have your classical rockabilly sound as well as the big orchestra works, hard rock and  punk influences and the sounds, structures and ways of playing from other artists are recognisable. (Stevie Ray Vaughan and ZZ Top, for example.) On top of that the music is very up tempo, let's say, it has a "happy" beat and that beat combined with the vocals and diverse musical settings make Brian Setzer an artist that everybody should have in his or her record collection. Enjoy his music...

Soul music laced with funk. She has played with Prince in The New Power Generation in 2011. Andy Allo knows how to create  great music. It's good to discover that some things never change. A smooth gentle voice, great rhythms, very nice and subtle bass work, I'm not surprised that she was able to work with Prince. Sometimes you get a similar feel as with Prince's album Diamonds and Pearls. Not as sexy but definitely a similar sensual loaded atmosphere. The album you can hear is the album Unfresh. Her latest album came out the 20th November 2012 so it isn't up for publication yet. Any how I'm pretty sure that this album will get your groove going. (Thanks Sabine for making me discover this). Enjoy this album...

Her name is Birdy and it's also the title of her debut album. Her only album up to this day. She is sixteen years old and and this album shows what an incredible talent she is. The album consists entirely of covers except one song: Without a world. How she makes these songs sound is phenomenal. You can hear that she is still very young because her voice is fragile but at the same time there is already a feeling and experience sounding through that shows that when her voice will be a bit more mature she will be able to belt out songs that shall turn out into classical pop tracks, appreciated for the years to come... Listen to this beautiful album and enjoy...
(PS: Thank you Gaby.)

This is about the debut album: How to save a life by the Fray. They play piano/pop rock and they say they are influenced by, among others, the Counting Crows and U2. I can hear that but what made me decide that this album is so lovely for the ears is the very distinctive voice. The album by itself has a sort of melancholic kinda feel. Nice to hear as back ground music but if you put the sound a little louder that won't bother either. I would not describe this as one of the greatest albums in the world but this album has a lovely collection of songs and if you appreciate music you will appreciate this. Enjoy...
