Music with quality

Now here is a band that one day shall be named legendary. No band in the world has influenced the world of hard-rock/metal/trash so much as Iron Maiden has done. Their style has become their musical personality. You will recognise the music of Iron Maiden as they are so unique. Their albums are great collections of musical action but I think you can hear how they progress to the absolute powerhouse that they are today by listening to the albums: Number of the Beast to and including Seventh Son of the Seventh Son. It's just that with every album they get better. And if you ever get the chance to see them live, even if it's not really your kind of music, just get that ticket and go. You will not be disappointed...

The music of the Doors. That's actually a bit of a love /hate situation. There are songs that I like to hear but there are also some songs that I can happily live without. I think that is due to the fact whether someone had an entire idea for a song or if the song was based on a jam session. My personal taste is not that happy with jam session based songs. And that is not just for the Doors, that's for every piece of music, but that's another story. What I do like about the Doors is the atmosphere that they are able to produce. (Which and here's a contradiction, is what very often is created by, yep... jam sessions.)At certain moments you  really can get drawn into the music. Proof that the music of the Doors is music with quality. Enjoy their work but listen carefully and with moderation...

A distinctive voice and that voice has sung some great lyrics. What a breath of fresh air when their first album came out. Simply Red has been able to get new attention for soul and disco music. Their tracks are simple with nice riffs, good hooks or even samples. The ballads are nice to listen at too, if not, sometimes, a bit on the (ch)easy side. Still the music of Simply Red has found it's place also here. Some songs are just too good to be ignored...

Grunch, grunch. This is some good music. Rough, distortioned, loud, that's very true but I can't say that their music is aggressive. And I like that. I think it's what makes Pearl Jam so particularly, stand out. Their sound is different from any other group and of course the vocals of Eddie Vedder are something apart all together. (a bit of rhyming for free there.) Besides of that I greatly appreciate and respect their attitude. They want their music to be remembered because of the music, not because of a video clip. Now that is showing a love for music. Feast your ears on this.

Well there's a band that has made some extraordinary songs. The Dire Straits have this particular way of creating their musical ambiance that works wonderfully with the structures they give to their songs. It's a pleasure for the ears, never too much to take in and there's always enough going on in their songs to keep you entertained. This is a band deserving a place in your music collection.

They are not exactly people who brought an incredible amount of songs on the market but there are some of the Tears for Fears songs that you simply can not miss out on. Shout and Everybody wants to rule the world are absolute classics. You can listen to a compilation of their best tracks. Have a good time. (Listen to the track: Woman in Chains. Great vocals, absolutely great!!!)

Warren G has this smooth way of telling stories that I appreciate. It's rap music but not down putting or glorifying the love for guns and violence. It is cool, slow and relaxed. I like that in rap music. It's very diverse and never boring. A lot of little noises are mixed in but these are never annoying or disturbing. Here is his debut album, sit back, relax and enjoy.

That is what I call soul music. Bobby Womack (yes he is from Womack and Womack) has created the most beautiful pieces of musical art in soul music. Some people with whom he has worked are: Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke, Wilson Pickett, Sly and the Family Stone and George Benson. (To name just a few.) What an incredible use of musical ambiance, the voice, the structures of the songs, the soft rhythms, it's all absolutely great. If you like soul music and haven't heard of Bobby Womack, you better get updated. This is what it's all about.

What a voice, what a voice, what a voice. Mariah Carey, unbelievable. And yet, I'm easily bored with her music. I am a huge fan of the album Music Box. And you know what? After that I've lost interest. It sounded the same, it tasted the same and I've got a cheap solution to listen to cheap music. Buy the album that you like and listen only to that one. It's also still the same but why buy the same in different boxes? I am aware that Mariah has a great voice. I also think that she isn't diverse enough. So here are Music Box and a collection of her number one hits. Enjoy.

A classic band Mötley Crüe. And great make-up. And the hairdo wasn't bad either.  I always had (still do actually) the impression that this band had a look that made more noise than their music. I don't know why but this compared to Guns N' Roses, well I say Guns N' Roses would kick their butt while having breakfast. The sound of Mötley Crüe always has been too polished for me. There's no "grit", no "grunch", it's not dirty enough. It's like listening to polystyrene rock. You can shape it into everything, you can paint it in every color but it will always squeek. (Be honest, on a scale of 1 to 3,  3 being the greatest rock sound and 1 being nicer than Abba, how high would you rate: Smoking in the boys room? I mean come on, there are Abba tracks that are wilder than that.) Never the less, Mötley Crüe has made it on this site because after all they have pleased the masses and that's what it's all about.  Cheers.
