Jet is an Australian rock band. They play alternative rock and this is about their debut album: Get Born. Personally I find everything in this album that gets me going. Aggression, speed, riffs, melodies, rhythm and great vocal work. I find classic rock, metal and punk music in this album. A mixture of everything that rock music has to offer and on top of that Jet has created original structures and and melodies that make this album so outstanding. The band and the album have received numerous awards and in my humble opinion this is completely justified. Listen to to Get Born and enjoy...

This band has been the example in the heavy metal music style. Saxon started in 1976 and became a hugely acclaimed band throughout the eighties. This is about their most successful album Wheels of Steel. This is the typical sound of the eighties where it is heavy metal concerned. An absolute classic powerhouse. The speed, the guitar sounds, the rhythms and of course the vocals. This is what it was all about. The smoothness of this album is extraordinary. You can hear that this album has influenced several bands and has left footprints in different music styles. Think about Maiden but also the Scorpions. On this album you will hear where it all originated. A beautiful piece of musical history, enjoy Wheels of Steel...

C2C

I was invited at a BBQ and spoke with somebody about music. We talked about mixes and different styles of dance and house music. Names were dropped and I was advised to listen to C2C. I had never heard of them and as I very often check the music that people advise me to listen to (yes, sometimes that leads to horrible things and me hoping not to meet these people too often) I discovered that C2C was not really a band, or should I say it is a band but a very peculiar one? C2C is a group of 4 d-jays. Their sound therefor is called: turntablism. (Yup this was new for me too.) Anyhow, they have put their debut album out in September  2012 and this is something else.  Here you can see C2C at work and I hope you like their debut album Tetra. Enjoy...

This is about her solo album the Dutchess. A great album that shows what creativity can be all about. Fergie shows here that she has a more powerful voice than you can hear with the Black Eyed Pies and that her songs can be as creative as theirs, dare I say, if not more. Five top five hits on billboard came from this album and the fact that Fergie touches a mixture of R&B, hip hop and pop music makes that she is not somebody who's to be stuck to a single music style. After this kind of success you wonder if she is going to go it alone or if she will stay with the Peas. Let's wait and see but for now, enjoy the album The Dutchess...

Styx plays progressive rock and hard rock. And than also you will find influences as soul, pop and disco in their music. It's all pretty diverse and this brings as an extra enjoyable thing that the music of Styx is simply never boring. In all their songs you will be able to find tricks, gimmicks and sounds or noises that will make you think; Oooh, nicely done there... The music is never very complicated or simple. Styx has managed to stay up and in between it all carrying on and on with their creativity that has led them to become a household name all over the world. If you like rock music that has a positive and upbeat character, this is it. Enjoy this compilation of their work...

This is a band that plays a mixture between southern rock and heavy metal. Blackfoot is a band that knows how to provide you with some serious good rock music. They started in 1969 and are active (again) today but with new musicians. The music and songs of this band are a must for every rock lover. Even more if you are a fan of a band called Lynyrd Skynyrd.  This band has this great guitar work, the exactly right rhythm section and the vocals to complete it all.  Have a good time listening to this great compilation, enjoy...

Back to 1972 when this album named Argus, saw the light of day, created by a band named Wishbone Ash. They play all sorts of rock but I find that you can also find elements of folk music in their work. Pop and blues are influences that are easily discovered as well. This band created with this particular album something extraordinary. Great guitar solo's and a wonderful rhythm section. The vocals put on top and it makes it an album that can do proud in your record collection. This is hand made musical art without anything artificial mixed in. It is this kind of craftsmanship that I would welcome on the radio a bit more. Listen to this wonderful album and enjoy...

This is about their second album: George is on. Deep Dish is a duo of DJs and producers. Their field of play is electronica, techno and house. They are renowned for remixes from artists like Madonna, Janet Jackson and Cher. They have created on this album a very special ambiance by mixing samples and using machines together with the cooperation from  Stevie Nicks. This is Art with a capital A. It sounds smooth and easy. It's a pleasure for the ears and this album has a lot of little sounds and noises to discover. Lovely rhythms and great melodies, enjoy...

The Yardbirds have made history in their main five years of existence; from 1963 until 1968. In that short period, they had several hits but way more  interesting for the rest of the world was the fact that they have used three guitar players who would become, individually, more important, than the Yardbirds ever have been. We are talking about: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page here. The music of the Yardbirds is blues orientated with hints of pop music in it. Not incredibly innovative, even in the sixties but this is still interesting enough to listen to and hear where it all started. Enjoy...

This is a country duo and they have shown that country music is heavily influenced by all sorts of music but is still able to leave the original country music instruments  enough space to show where the roots are. The voices are well placed and do great harmonies. Big & Rich have also worked with Cowboy Troy, and you can hear from both sides that they have exchanged ideas. The result is that a very new and influenced  way of making country music has been laid open. Not only the influence of different styles is getting through loud and clear but you may even recognise the different era's. I think that you can call this country music with a groove. Enjoy...
