Music with quality

Is this still to classify as folk music, do I wonder. It seems richer and has a "poppier" feel to folk. Anyhow, the Mamas and the Papas have made musical history that we still treasure today. The use of the voices are fantastic and you can only wonder if they still would have been here how they would have used the studio equipment of today. Pay attention as well to the lovely use of the violins. This is just great stuff!!! Enjoy...

If you like hard rock and piano music, mixed with some great vocal work, Meat Loaf is what you need. The album: Bat out of Hell, has set some records that every artist would have liked to accomplish. This is heavy melodic rock 'n roll music, where the " I am going to have sex" theme is used severely but at no point at all is this disturbing. What you can listen to here is the album Bat out of Hell and it is followed by a compilation of songs. Have a good time...

A band that shot to international stardom in the mid eighties. The Simple Minds managed to create some songs that could be sung by everybody who didn't speak English. (Hey, hey, hey, heeey, Ohoohoo, some of the better lyrics of: Don't you forget about me) Respect for the fact that The Simple Minds made us all a little bit more political aware. And some learned who Nelson Mandela was. (If you don't know this, look it up). The music the Simple Minds made is pop music. Melodic and well structured. Enjoy...

The Cure, a band that has been influencing thousands of other bands not only with their music but also with their attitude and way of dressing. The Cure was as I can remember the first "Gothic" band. They were a kind of mixture from the punk music and the new romantic style. At that time of course nobody knew and the whole Gothic style in music did not exist. The Cure has created songs that sometimes are optimistic and hopeful at other times their work can be very depressing. You will find a compilation of their songs followed by a collection of their songs played "unplugged". Enjoy...

Now, more eighties than this is almost impossible. Duran Duran was not only one of the most played bands on the radio in the eighties but (and I did not notice that very much) seemed to be one of the bands with most handsome members as well. They had new ways of making video clips, they were styled by fashion people and they made some good tunes. It surprised me a bit that when I was creating the playlist, I was whistling along. So there you go, have a listen to what is considered by many as the outstanding band of the eighties...

The first time I heard of Phil Collins was when he was singing You can't hurry love. As I knew that this was not "his" song but liked his version (something that does not happen often with covers) I had to check him out. So he started in 1968. And up until today this man has had a career that most of any other musicians can only dream of. Absolutely incredible. Fantastic. And his music is not too bad either. Enjoy...

To be honest with you, I only know this band because I heard them on the radio. I have never seen a concert of them or had an LP, CD or DVD. As much as I like a piano, I've never felled okay with a synthesizer, I don't know why. And as  Depeche Mode is very much an electronic band I just listened to it when it came up. Never the less, I do understand that even if I'm not a fan, as such, I respect their music and obviously   Depeche Mode deserves a space here because of their original and creative music. Enjoy...

He had his first hit in 1958 and it has been said that he is the artist who recorded the first rock 'n roll song in England. Since than he has sold more than two hundred and fifty million albums and had number one hits every decade. His musical style is somewhere between gospel, rock 'n roll and pop music. Sir Cliff Richard is an artist who deserves more exposure on the radio, as he is, after all, one of England's most successful artists of all time and without him, bands like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones would not have had the same exposure and acceptance in the days prior to the British Invasion. Enjoy a collection of his songs...

This is what can be described as: The Good Stuff. Soul music as it is supposed to be. Luther Vandross is an absolute icon. Great voice and the songs he's done are absolutely outstanding. Great atmosphere and ambiance in beautifully crooned songs. Unfortunately we won't receive any new songs of this great artist as he has passed way (way too young and too soon) but we can enjoy the masterpieces he has left us. ..

If you ever are in need of some romantic music, Kenny G is the solution. As he has started playing he was employed by Barry White, now evidently where it's romantic music concerned he could not have done better. His music is classified as: smooth jazz. Besides of that, Mr Kenny G has as well some world records on his name concerning sales but also... holding a note for the longest time. Listen and enjoy his music...
