Feel free to introduce me to a female singer with a similar vocal use as Janis Joplin, at any time. Surely there must be somebody out there being able to sing a tune on some old fashioned, real rhythm & blues? Or was Janis the last female vocalist, who ever walked the face of the Earth, to do so?

I understand that her unique way of singing and her outstanding voice made her, even during her lifetime, an icon. And that is totally justified!!!
What I appreciate less is that this gives me at the same time the impression that just because of the fact that she was so unique, nobody does even try to do anything like it or better. (Feel free to prove me wrong!)
I know that there are other very impressive female vocalists, Josh Stone, Patti La Belle, Barbara Streisand etc. but I have not found any female artist belting out a song on a blues groove with a rock rhythm. Good thing that we can listen to the recorded works of Janis in that case. Enjoy...
