Brian Setzer

He's been on my put-it-on MWQ-list for a long time. So here he is. Brian Setzer, the man who has used multiple styles of music and mixed it with his own brand of rockabilly. Brian Setzer was a founder of the Stray Cats, played in (of course) the Brian Setzer Orchestra and has done various solo projects. A wonderful representative of the rockabilly music genre but what I think is so lovely with his music is all the influences that he puts into it. You have your classical rockabilly sound as well as the big orchestra works, hard rock and  punk influences and the sounds, structures and ways of playing from other artists are recognisable. (Stevie Ray Vaughan and ZZ Top, for example.) On top of that the music is very up tempo, let's say, it has a "happy" beat and that beat combined with the vocals and diverse musical settings make Brian Setzer an artist that everybody should have in his or her record collection.
