Jeff Healey

I think that Jeff Healey's blues/rock music is great to listen to. As he was blind, he learned to play the guitar while it was on his lap. This made him play the instrument with ten fingers in play position, instead of the usual nine. (As a pedal steel guitar but without the steel "bottle neck") I heard his debut album and saw him in the movie Road House and I was impressed and loved his sound and way of playing. Besides of that, I love his way of singing. So I listened to his first three albums and than lost him out of sight a bit. And today, I learned two things. Jeff Healey also plays jazz, American hot jazz to be exact. The other thing I learned, was that Jeff Healey is no longer with us. It is one thing to lose an artist at any given moment but... they're human too and people die. And you can sort of like, talk about it "together". Not me, I only got the "update" today. I started to do this article and thought; I haven't been checking up on him for a while let's find out if he's done some great new things. Well, what else can I say but... You'll be missed. I've put up his albums including the jazz ones. For evrybody else who didn't know that Jeff Healey also played jazz, let me tell you this: his voice blends in brilliantly, it's played to perfection but not stiff, it's groovin' and it's just lovely to hear.
