Diana Ross (and the Supremes)

Oh yes, baby. Diana Ross, with or without the Supremes, Very nice tunes and perfectly executed. The amazing thing is that Diana Ross is not a "belting out" diva. Diva, yes but she does not hold notes very long as for example a Mariah Carey or Celine Dion would do. And I think that is exactly where her power is. Sure a belting voice is great, the problem I have with that is: when I have heard one, I've heard them all. That doesn't mean the songs they perform aren't nice, they are. It's just that I don't need fifty vocalists doing the same stuff. And that is where I find Diana Ross so intriguing. She isn't a vocalist with an extremely strong voice. Her technical vocal abilities are good but they can't be described as exceptional. I think her power lies in the fact that she is able to blend into the music, without trying to show so hard what an amazing voice she has. It all sounds so smoothly, so easy and to me she gives me the feeling that it is done with pleasure. Here's a collection of her work, I think you'll appreciate.
