A great band, Def Leppard... but... What happened? The first album: On Through The Night. Good tunes, some better than others but the entire album is well worth listening to. Than the album: Hig 'n' Dry. Compared to the first album, what a lovely step up. This is a fantastic album. Songs are woven into another, great sound, great voices. This is a rock album. Well done Def Leppard!!! And than, for some reason, on the next albums, the rock sound disappears and is replaced by a sort of heavy pop-sound, with distortion, I admit but where are the long melodic guitar riffs, what happened to these long elaborated song patterns? They are gone. Instead we have nice, may I say very nice "belt-them-out-together" songs. Photograph, Animal, Love Bites, Pour Some Sugar On Me and from that moment on, the list grows. Yet that original sound, the melodic speed, that... groove, perhaps... that hasn't returned. You can listen to the first and the second album and also a compilation of their work...
